Our Beliefs
Learn about our vision, mission, values, and beliefs. Our statement of faith is taken from The Gospel Coalition.
Psalm 102:18 Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord.
Transforming a generation requires more than the work of any individual. It takes a village to make a disciple.
Chinese people often confer the title of “auntie” or “uncle” to address a close family friend who is not blood-related. In the body of Christ, we are all spiritual aunties and uncles raising up the next generation of disciples. We all have a valued place in the community to help future generations remember Christ’s work.
And the Holy Spirit has given each disciple unique gifts and talents in making disciples. We need a village of aunties and uncles gathered around the dining table to form generations transformed in Jesus.
What is a disciple of Jesus? First, a disciple is characterized by faith in what God has done. Second, a disciple acts according to his/her new identity.
A disciple is
A beloved child of God the Father
Set free from the bondage of sin by the death and resurrection of the Son
Empowered by the Holy Spirit to bear fruit
Therefore, a disciple
Builds trust in the Father through prayer
Walks in new life with Christ and equips others to do the same
Goes out to the mission field to bear witness and make disciples
A disciple is formed by conversation
We equip one another to have casual conversations that lead to meaningful ones that lead to spiritual ones. We have conversations about the Bible to encounter the God of the Bible.
Exodus 33:11A Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.
Mark 4:33-34 With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it. He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.
Acts 17:17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.
